.0-081 Tree Description: This Canadian hemlock (Tsuga canadensis) probably was planted around the time Oak Ridge was founded, and would have witnessed the interment of John L. Lewis to the east. There are still many old conifers remaining here from those early plantings, valued for their winter beauty and their traditional symbolism representing everlasting life. Look for other old hemlocks nearby and in the east part of Oak Ridge.
