Oak, Weeping Hybrid

.0-082 Tree Description: An unusual weeping oak, this is believed to be a hybrid of pin oak (Quercus palustris) with shingle oak (Q. imbricaria). The tree, located  on a hillside in the Hebrew Section of Oak Ridge,  is of unknown origin, having been here since before we began to study the trees of Oak Ridge around 1990. It might be a spontaneous seedling from one of the oldest planted pin oaks here pollinated by the locally common shngle oaks.
