94-03 b-e Cory hybrid oak trees

Tree Description:

94-03    These four Cory hybrid oak trees (b, c, d, and e) derived from swamp white oak and chinkapin oak (Quercus bicolor H Q. muehlenbergii F₂) (= Quercus ×coryana) and were grown from seed collected here in Oak Ridge. They have reverted substantially to their Quercus bicolor grandparent (this phenomenon is called “affinity Q. bicolor”). They display hybrid vigor and are becoming outstanding shade trees. Compare the four trees with one another and with tree  94-04, and see if you can spot the minor differences that such hybrid trees sometimes exhibit.
