Tree Description:
97-08c –This bitternut hickory (Carya cordiformis) is one of several planted at oak ridge and a few more that are spontaneous here. The trees vary, and this one came from a tree in Tennessee that produces nuts that are not bitter like most others. They all have bright yellow fall color and are among the fastest growing of our hickory species. The source was Meeman-Shelby State Park, near Memphis. This is the same source as 97-08A and 97-08B.
