Bur Oak – 96-12

Tree Description:

96-12 – Bur Oak (Quercus marcrocarpa) is well represented among the trees planted here. But there are very few wild ones remaining from the original cemetery ground, so we have grown some from seed collected here to continue the local ecotype as the old trees eventually are lost. This one came two years later from the same group of trees as 94-05, along the road leading from this nursery to the Abbey near the Monument Avenue entrance area and southwest from Lincoln’s tomb.
