Tree Description:
03-02 – The Turkish Oak (Quercus cerris) is a variable tree found in southern Europe through western Asia Minor. This one was grown from a cultivated source in Pennsylvania that is thought to have come from the eastern part of its natural range due to the deeply lobed leaves, seldom seen in western European trees. It can achieve very large and is tolerant of more severe conditions that many other large Old-World oak species. Unlike many European oaks, Turkish oak is more distantly related to ours and is not known to cross pollinate with any North American species.
