Tree Description:
0-098 – This ortet spreading-formed tree produced several Cory oaks (Quercus xcoryana) planted on the cemetery grounds since 1994. This hybrid of chinkapin oak (Quercus muehlenbergii) and swamp white oak (Quercus bicolor) was confirmed by the famous Morton Arboretum dendrologist Dr. George Ware in the early 1990s and has unusual live-oak form, spreading widely with no central leader. We are watching its progeny here to see if that characteristic has been inherited by any of them. The acorns mature in one season.
