Shagbark Hickory—0-072

Tree Description:

.0-072  This shagbark hickory (Carya ovata) is a very old specimen and displays the extreme shaggy bark often seen on this species. The nuts are edible and a favorite food of squirrels. While you are in this area, compare its bark with that of tree .0-085 downhill to the east, which shows the other extreme.
