Tree Description:
0-117 – Norway spruce (Picea abies) is one of the largest and best adapted of all Old World spruces to our soil and climate here in Illinois. You will see a group here, with each one showing slightly difference characteristics, indicating that they were grown from seed rather that grafted. If you find mature old spruce trees in almost any cemetery, they are likely to be this one. Feel free to take home a cone and see if you can grow any seedlings from it.
