Tree Description:
94-12 White oak is the State Tree of Illinois and probably was the most common oak originally seen at Oak Ridge. It thus may have been responsible for the cemetery name. This individual was grown from seed of a very late-fruiting parent in Washington Park, here in Springfield. If it follows that pattern it will extend the seed availability season for migrating birds and for squirrels and chipmunks.
