Tree Description:
.0-073 White oak (Quercus alba) is the State Tree of Illinois and can achieve great age and majesty. It probably was the most common oak originally seen at Oak Ridge and was responsible for the cemetery name. This large specimen surely predates the founding of Oak Ridge and, according to growth observations conducted here, likely dates to a disturbance of the area in 1844.
