Pignut hickory – 99-05

Tree Description:

99-05 – Occasionally seen around Springfield, usually on high, dry sites, the native Pignut Hickory (Carya glabra) is one of our most colorful trees each fall. Tolerant of many site conditions, it takes its time to develop eventually into a beautiful large tree. Scattered specimens can be found in Springfield as close as the State Fairgrounds, but this one was grown from seed collected from an outstanding tree near the Kentucky Dam north of Land Between the Lakes.
