Tree Description:
0-104 – This Pin Oak (Quercus palustris) was already planted here before we built the nursery in 1992, and it was too well grown to be taken out so we worked around it. The tree seems to be nearly identical to the one just inside the Monument Avenue entrance and might have been planted at the same time. Many pin oaks suffer under Springfield soil conditions (they prefer acidic wet soil) but this one has been hardy and vigorous for us here.
