.0-078 There are many old white pines in Oak Ridge, but few are larger or more impressive than this one. Although not native here, it is one of the most adaptable pine species for the climate and soils of central Illinois and it has survived while many pine trees of other species died over the past century. If you look around from this spot you can see the characteristic crowns of several of its cohorts.
