Tree Description:
0-107 – The Red Maple (Acer rubrum) is one of the most planted ornamental trees in Illinois, and there are many cultivars and a few hybrids being grown by nurseries. This old specimen probably is a true wild form, and it develops exceptional fall color which shows to advantage among the other trees nearby. There are a few, but not many, other red maples in other parts of Oak Ridge in mixture with the more common sugar maples.
