Rosaceous Oak – 01-07a

Tree Description:

01-07a – A hybid oak frequently found growing wild in Europe but seldom seen in the US, this Rosaceous Oak (Quercus ×rosacea) was grown from seed collected at the Arboretum du Breuil, France. The seed-bearing tree was a beautiful Quercus petraea (Durmast oak) and it had been pollinated by a nearby forest of pedunculate oaks (Quercus robur). You will find other Quercus robur trees and cultivars here at Oak Ridge, even in this tour, and you might find it interesting to compare their differences with each other as well as with this hybrid.
