Tree Description:
94-21 This hybrid oak originated from a cross between white oak (Quercus alba) and chinkapin oak (Quercus muehlenbergii), both of which are native to the Springfield area. It was grown from seed collected from Morton Arboretum accession 422-48. The original botanical name carries some confusion because it has been assigned to a different hybrid, so we are following the nomenclature of Reinhold Luebbert in his World Compendium of Oaks.
