Tree Description:
0-042– Maples typically are very colorful, and this hybrid was cultured with that in mind. It is a cross of Shantung maple (Acer truncatum) with Norway maple (Acer platanoides) and there are several similar cultivars known collectively as Sunset Maples. We don’t know the source of this specimen, but it’s the only one we have found anywhere on the grounds so we suspect it was brought in to commemorate a special person or event.
