Tree Description:
99-06a – This tree (Carya ovalis) is called sweet pignut or red pignut hickory. It is not common here but frequently seen in Kentucky and further south. As you can see, it makes a nice tree here in any reasonable conditions. Sweet pignut, as the name suggests, is very similar to pignut but more edible. Our tree was grown from a seed collected near Kentucky Dam in northwestern Kentucky, not far from the Illinois border.
