Tree Description:
94-13 –This white oak (Quercus alba) was propagated from a shaggy-barked old specimen along the Edwards Trace on the east side of Lake Springfield. We are watching it to see if it develops the same bark character as it matures. White oak is the Illinois State Tree, and this one has additional notoriety as the offspring of one that would have been known by native Americans as they traveled the trail.
