White Spruce – 0-109

2024 Tour

Tree Description:

0-109 – White spruce trees (Picea glauca) are very common in the far north and occasionally are planted for ornamental purposes this far south. On our tour are two white spruce trees in close proximity. The spruce tree to the west features a “witches’ broom”. The brooms usually are caused by a fungus such as Chrysomyxa arctostaphyli, forming dense growths which persist but grow slowly.
